'Poco Smoke' - by Vicky Bethell |
In 1998 I took time out from my life as it was then to follow my heart, travel overseas and immerse myself in horses. That was a great turning point for me and I learnt more about myself and life than I had ever expected. I came to learn that the journey and the goal are the same; that as you think so shall you be. Our lives are what our thoughts create. To quote J. Allen Boone “I had to discard my eyes as reliable reporting factors, so to speak and to begin using my thinking to see with”.
The wisdom, gentleness and humour I was exposed to in spending time with a great and gentle old horseman sowed a seed for the development of me in ways I had never anticipated. Inspired by him to explore and develop the artistic side of myself I discovered a pathway of expression for my lifelong passion and relationship with horses.
I have an abiding connection to my west coast home, and through my landscapes I share my enormous respect for the coast and it's evocative qualities. I am a professional artist, specialising in horses, and my works are in private collections worldwide.
