Vicky Bethell lives at Bethells Beach (Te Henga), a wild and rugged beach on Auckland's west coast.

Vicky's passion for horses has been lifelong, and a number of horses (and other animals) share her life, as well as her husband Ross, family and friends.

Since 1999, Vicky has received international commissions for her artwork, particularly horse portraiture.

Vicky's principal mediums are graphite, watercolour and oil.

Vicky's education and involvement with horses has developed significantly over the years, thanks particularly to Tom Dorrance, Ray Hunt and Ken Dromgool.

Enjoying the challenge of representing a horse's individuality in an artistic way, Vicky's strength lies in her ability to capture an accurate likeness. The depth of feeling and anatomical accuracy depicted in her artwork, are largely due to Vicky's life long involvement with horses and her intrinsic understanding of their nature, expression, communication and movement.
