COMMISSIONED ART

To secure a commissioned work a 25% deposit is required. This deposit will be deducted from the final balance owing. Once your photos and deposit have been received and the funds cleared, a proof of the completed work will be forwarded. The original will be shipped upon receipt and bank clearance of the balance owing.

Portrait composition may cause the image dimensions to vary slightly from the quoted size.

All artwork (graphite, watercolour, oils) priced from $795 for approximately A4 - A2 sized work.

Equine commission prices relate to artwork of the animal itself, however specific requests will be quoted on an individual basis - e.g. multiple subjects, people, or other elements in the painting.

Contact Vicky for further details - she can discuss your requirements.

PRINTS

Prints Price varies according to the artwork. Approximately A3 - A4 sized work (~ 12 x 16 inches).

HELPFUL INFORMATION WHEN PHOTOGRAPHING FOR A COMMISSION

The following information is useful when you plan to select photographs for a commission (whether from photographs already in your possession, or for taking specific pictures)

  • Choose a sunny day and don't use a flash. Morning or afternoon light is best - make sure sun is behind you as you take the picture.

  • Take a variety and number of photographs - this will allow for blinking eyes, movement, and for different positions and postures.

  • Have the camera at eye level with your horse.

  • Shadows in the right places can help emphasise detail. But be aware of large shadows that may do the exact opposite and instead obscure detail and detract from the unique markings your horse may have.

  • Select a background that will help define details and outline your horse clearly - a darker background for a pale horse, plain background for a broken coloured horse (such as an Appaloosa or Paint), and paler background for a dark horse.

  • Don't use a wide angle lens - this will cause distortion.  I nstead, if you have a zoom lens, use it fully extended and then move in close enough to fill the frame with the portion of the horse you want drawn. This will help you take undistorted close-up images of your horse, as well as clear whole body shots that fill the photo (so the horse is not lost in the distance of the shot).

The aim is for Vicky to be able to capture the personality and uniqueness of your horse in an artistic way, so if possible try to provide her with a selection of photographs to work from that are representational of your horse.

Detailed pictures that are varied in lighting and pose and offer clear views e.g of markings, expression, or breed characteristics will enable the Artist to visualise her subject despite not necessarily having the opportunity to do so in person.
