Horsemanship Halters, Leads & Reins
Vicky Bethell makes hand spliced reins, halters and lead ropes from high quality Yachting Braid, a strong rope that has a soft lay but a very high breaking strain.
Colours Available: Black, Red, Green or Blue. Black braid comes in two grades of thickness - a finer rope is available for reins, or for young children and as horsemanship leads for Miniature Ponies.
Sizes Available: Hack, Cob (Arab), Pony, Mini, Draft, Large Hack (Warmblood), Custom Sizes to order.

Rein Styles
A selection of rein styles are available. All items can be custom-made to suit
Rope reins offer a good feel to a horse. They enable the horse to readily feel changes in your hands and provide quick release of pressure to reward, creating lightness and softness, with correct use. They are also non-slip especially in the rain and children find them easy and comfortable to hold.
Sport Reins - come as a set with rein straps and chinstrap, complete with instructions for correct attachment to the bridle headstall. The reins are available with tassels or without tassels.
Funky Kids Reins - are tasselled sport reins in bright colours - rich red, turquoise blue and Hunter green.
Mecate' Reins - provide a lead rope for groundwork or as a quirt when riding, as with natural horsemanship (but do not tie a horse with this lead).
English Style Joined Reins - are traditionally styled reins, but made from yachting braid, therefore offering the comfort and feel of soft strong rope, yet keeping with convention (for showing etc). These reins do not have quite the same feel for the horse however in terms of the quick reward gained via rein straps used with Sport reins.
Western Split Reins - are eight feet long split reins in keeping with western riding tradition. Other specialised western rein styles can be made as required e.g. barrel-racing reins, team roping reins.
